Love and Responsibility: Choosing Ethical Wedding Bands

Wide or thin, diamond or sapphire, our wedding bands feature ethical and recycled materials.

Love and Responsibility: Choosing Ethical Wedding Bands

Your wedding day is a celebration of love, commitment, and shared values. As couples increasingly seek to make mindful choices that reflect their ethical beliefs. Sustainable and Ethically sourced wedding bands have never been more important as a symbol of eternal love and a commitment to a healthier planet.

In this guide, we explore the significance of responsible wedding bands.

Elevating Love and Responsible Through Materials

A Responsible wedding band should be crafted from recycled metals or fair-trade gold. Choosing recycled metals reduces the demand for new mining, minimizes the environmental impact, and promotes the efficient use of existing resources. Fair-trade gold, on the other hand, ensures that the miners and artisans involved receive fair wages and work in safe conditions.

Empowering Women, Supporting Communities

Opting for a woman-led and USA-made sustainable wedding band extends the sustainability narrative beyond materials. Supporting women-led businesses like YITM empowers female entrepreneurs and promotes gender equality in traditionally male-dominated industries.

Harnessing Nature's Energy for Lasting Symbols of Love

Young In The Mountains is a  sustainable jewelry brand that is wind-powered. By utilizing renewable energy sources available to us from our energy supplier, like wind power, we reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to a cleaner environment. This commitment to eco-friendly production resonates with our couples seeking wedding bands that align with their values.

Why Responsibility Matters

The decision to opt for recycled wedding bands extends far beyond the aesthetics of the rings. Here's why choosing sustainability matters:

  • Environmental Impact. Recycled or Fairmined gold bands cut the negative environmental effects associated with mining and production. Helping to preserve natural habitats and reduce pollution.
  • Ethical Practices. Supporting a woman-led business like YITM ensures that workers are treated with dignity and respect. Promoting ethical labor practices.
  • Future Generations. By choosing sustainable options, you contribute to a better world for future generations. Leaving a positive legacy for your family.
  • Personal Connection. Sustainable wedding bands have a deeper meaning. They represent your shared commitment to each other and the planet.
  • Starting Right. Your wedding day marks the start of a new journey. By choosing sustainable wedding bands, you begin your life with conscious choices reflecting your values.

Are You Ready to Responsibly Say "I DO"?

Responsible wedding bands are more than just exquisite pieces of jewelry. They encapsulate a shared commitment to love, responsibility, and the planet. As you exchange these meaningful symbols on your special day with Young in The Mountains, you celebrate your union and foster a more sustainable and compassionate future for all.

    Cleaning Your YITM Jewelry

    Gold, Diamonds & Sapphires
These materials are the most durable and easiest to clean. Use warm water, a small amount of mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush to gently remove buildup. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, and abrasive materials. Jewelry with exclusively gold and diamonds or sapphires can go in ultrasonic cleaners. The gold parts of the jewelry can be shined with the polishing cloth included in all YITM orders.

    Inlay Jewelry
Inlay pieces require special care. Do not soak or submerge in water. Do not put in an ultrasonic machine. Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth only. Moisture and chemicals can occasionally change the color composition of soft turquoise and variscite stones. Remove when applying lotion, oil, cleaning or swimming. The gold parts of the jewelry can be cleaned with the polishing cloth included in all YITM orders.

Sunstones, Tourmaline, Topaz, Garnet, Amethyst or Peridot
These stones are more delicate. We do not use them in rings for this reason. If these stones are in your other YITM styles, do not use ultrasonic cleaners, steam, or harsh cleaners. Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth if needed, then dry immediately. The gold parts of the jewelry can be cleaned with the polishing cloth included in all YITM orders.

    Storage & Long-Term Care

Store each piece separately to prevent scratching, ideally in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box. Keep jewelry away from humidity, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight. Periodic professional inspections are recommended for rings worn regularly.

For everyday, forever wear, we recommend a simple pure gold band. Our inlay and accent jewelry is best worn as the occasion permits. Please visit our FAQ page for more detailed care guidance.
