In this blog post, we'll take you on an exciting exploration of these versatile pieces, delving into styling secrets, and care tips.

Get ready to transform your look from simple to sophisticated as we dive into the art of creating captivating jewelry stacks.

Tracing Back the Trend: Origins of Stacking

The art of stacking rings, including diamond stacking bands, has a rich and fascinating history that dates back centuries.

While the trend has recently gained significant popularity, its roots can be traced to various cultural and historical influences.

Ancient Traditions

Stacking rings have a deep connection to ancient traditions and customs.

In ancient Egypt, for example, individuals adorned their fingers with multiple rings, often featuring intricate designs and symbolic meanings.

These rings were worn for adornment and as expressions of social status and spirituality.

Victorian Era Stacking Rings

The Victorian era (1837-1901) saw the emergence of a significant trend in ring stacking.

Queen Victoria herself set the stage for this trend with her engagement ring. Her ring featured a beautiful snake-shaped band adorned with diamonds, stacking bands, and colored gemstones.

This iconic piece inspired many to start stacking rings, often incorporating sentimental gemstones and intricate designs.

Art Deco Influence

The Art Deco movement of the 1920s and 1930s brought a fresh perspective to ring stacking.

During this era, geometric shapes, bold colors, and innovative designs became popular.

Stacking rings took on a more streamlined and modern look, often featuring contrasting elements that made each ring stand out.

Choosing the Right Band Width

When crafting the perfect stack of diamond bands, one of the fundamental considerations is choosing the right bandwidth.

The bandwidth not only influences the overall aesthetics of your stack but also affects its comfort and wearability.

Here's why selecting the appropriate bandwidth is crucial:

  • Style Impact.  Narrow bands create a delicate and understated look, ideal for those who prefer subtle elegance. On the other hand, wider bands make a bolder statement, drawing more attention to the stack and its intricate details.
  • Finger Proportions. If you have slender fingers, narrower bands complement your hand's natural grace. Conversely, wider bands can balance out broader fingers, creating a harmonious and well-proportioned appearance.
  • Comfort and Wearability. The comfort of your stack is paramount.

The Role of Diamond Cuts and Settings in Stack Aesthetics

In the world of custom diamond stacking bands, the choice of diamond cuts and settings is pivotal in determining your stack's overall aesthetics and allure.

Different cuts create unique patterns of brilliance and sparkle.

When choosing diamond stacking band cuts for your stacking bands, consider the following:

  • Round Brilliant Cut. This classic cut offers exceptional sparkle and is a timeless choice for a sophisticated and versatile stack.

  • Princess Cut. The princess cut, known for its sharp, geometric facets, adds a modern and edgy touch to your stack.

  • Baguette Cut. These rectangular step-cut diamonds exude elegance and work well in creating a sleek and minimalist stack.

Mix, Match, and Shine

Diamond stacking bands offer endless possibilities for creating looks that range from simple to sophisticated. Adding a stacking band is a great way to make your solitaire more versatile. While tradition says a bride should wear two rings, we believe the more the better. You should have fun and not let tradition dictate what you do.

We recommend a thin pure gold band as part of your stack. When you are active you can remove all rings but this thin gold band, and know your other more complicated rings are protected.

At Young In The Mountains, delve into the intricate art of stacking rings and discover the individuality they bring to your style.

Explore our collection and embark on a journey of self-expression through jewelry stacks that commemorate your life's milestones and showcase your unique personality.

    Jewelry Care

Diamonds, sapphires and gold are the traditional materials to wear as engagement or wedding jewelry because they are the most durable. Only these three materials are our recommendation for use as an engagement ring.

Sunstones, emeralds, opals and inlay stones are beautiful accents, but should not be considered up for every day, forever wear in an engagement ring stack.  Forever is a long time, so choose wisely when considering a ring to be the everyday representation of your love. It’s a big decision to represent your love with fine jewelry, consider a versatile set that can we worn in all the different times and events in your life.

All jewelry requires care and attention, so please realize just because a ring is chosen from our website and presented as a wedding ring, does not mean it's appropriate for everyday wear. The materials are very important. All jewelry should be taken off before bathing, swimming, yoga, applying lotions, working out, doing the dishes, etc.

We recommend a simple pure gold band as the everyday forever wedding ring. Our inlay jewelry can be worn as the occasion permits. More information is explained in our FAQ PAGE.
