"Patterns in nature have always inspired me. In my inlay experience, I worked with wood before stone. There were patterns in palm wood that could have been taken right from the coat of a cheetah. It felt so recombinant and awe-inspiring to see the same things in stone, blossoms and branches in agates that could be Japanese silk paintings. I find human patterns searching for control, while nature celebrates the chaos, even if there is a grand pattern at play. This ring is a study in the pattern of natural Colina Verde Variscite compared with the human pattern of checkerboard that I created in my studio from Lucin Variscite and Black Jade."

This ring is a study in the pattern of natural Colina Verde Variscite compared with the human pattern of checkerboard that I created in my studio from Lucin Variscite and Black Jade. The ring is 14k yellow gold.

Name Inspiration

Recombinant means produced by combining genetic material from different places. In this artistic regard, recombinant is intended to mean the use of two different ideas to create a single item or in this case a single similar pattern.
